What is in a name?#

I love how a sweet name can really enhance the fun factor in almost anything. These designs below make me want to have a chocolate kiss on a sand dune while drinking a cherry bomb by the reef!

The art of writing a note is not lost in my book, and what better a way to do it with great stationery? These designs below will let the recipient know that you not only wrote them a heartfelt note, but also kept in mind the stylish package it comes in.

Clean Cut Chicago Invitation#
After enjoying decent weather in Chicago for the past few weeks, I started thinking about how great the city is in the summer. I love how a simple design can make a statement, especially if you are using the city as a backdrop. This design would be fantastic in letterpress, and can go the distance in additional pieces such as place cards, menus, table cards, stationery, pretty much anything that can be printed on paper!

Are you planning your event in Chicago? Do you want this invitation or something similar?

Hot Wedding Invitation Trends from the Big Apple: Guest Post from C&N Events#
I love being in the know. This could anything from fashion trends to restaurants, and most importantly wedding invitations! C&N Events is a event planning firm based in Brooklyn, New York and is right on with the latest trends in events. I love connecting with other passionate people that have a love for what they do, as you can see from her very informative list below. I couldn't agree more with her stand on the importance of the invitation.

Trends that I love right now!
Opening the envelope of a wedding invitation is like opening a window to the promise of that day; it provides a peek of the festivities to come. Wedding invitations are extremely important to the wedding planning process this is how the bride and groom communicate with their guests. In addition to letting your guests know the details of the wedding, the wedding invitations also need to demonstrate the overall atmosphere of the event. This means that whether the event is casual or formal, the wedding invitations should reflect it. This will save them embarrassment from wearing a gown to a casual garden wedding!

Nature-inspired
Birds and related imagery have captured the attention of many brides. We expect to see more bridal stationery featuring hummingbirds, mockingbirds, simple floral branches and scenery. This is a great option for brides who are having an outdoor wedding. For a twist on the classic monogram try adding a floral detail, or choose a bold pattern of blossoms to any background.

3-Dimensional
I am absolutely loving interactive wedding invitations! We all enjoyed pop open books as kids but now it’s being used in a more grown up and still fun way! Adding objects and personal touches to the invitations gives a handmade feel to the wedding stationery.

Custom Illustrations
One of the hottest new wedding paper trends: Custom-illustrated stationery featuring architectural sketches of your wedding venue and handwritten wedding details of the weekend. Some of these illustrations are not only being featured on paper but fun places like handkerchiefs, coasters, napkins, and place cards.

Eco-friendly Designs
The green movement has been going strong for the past decade and will continue to spread around the world. It was only a matter of time before brides and vendors alike would start applying these greener practices to their weddings. These eco-friendly designs are not about sacrificing looks but creating a smarter product!

Whatever invitation you choose to send to your guest, elegant, modern, fun or quirky, it should 100 percent represent the bride, groom and your special day!

Love Art#
I love art, and I have been drawing and painting ever since I could remember. I even won an art contest in second grade, and there were times that my classmates always thought I traced everything when I did it all freehand! I decided that I would combine my passion for art with graphic design, since I also love using design programs as another tool to create. Interested in purchasing an original piece or commissioning artwork? I can be contacted at jamie@jamieldesigns.com.

inspiration comes from all places#
If I wasn't a designer, I would be a baker. I also love taking photographs, and I find inspiration in just about everything. Lately I have been really into cooking and baking. This morning I was making a carrot and apple cake, and literally had a creative aha moment when mixing the carrots with the dry ingredients. Here is what happened:

I just love how the bright orange swirls with the white (wheat, gotta make it healthy somehow) flour. Then I thought I can make a great design concept with this idea. Stay tuned, as I will be churning out my carrot and apple cake inspired invitation and stationery. Inspiration really can come from the most unexpected places.

See the design below!

I wanted to do something a little different than the traditional invitation. I picture this invitation for a rustic summer wedding, with a carrot cake wedding cake of course!

T-Shirt Design#
I recently got an inquiry for a Bat Mitzvah t-shirt design. I love how design can span across all mediums, and how it can really turn an ordinary party into an event that you can remember for years to come. Bar and Bat Mitzvahs are especially that way, as the photo albums, favors, and vidoes stick around for years and always seem to come out just at the right times.  Case in point, when I met my now husband's grandma for the first time, before I knew it we were watching his Bar Mitzvah video which I know he was thrilled for me to see him in junior high!

Below are examples of how design elements can be used to make a design carry through even after the event has ended. Similar to branding a company, an event has the same principles. This can be on t-shirts, baseball caps, stationery, event decor such as lighting, the possibilities are endless!

Baby Shower Fun#
I have always been fascinated by cake decoration. I enjoy all of TLC's and the Food Network cake shows, and watch them to get inspired. I hosted a baby shower with some of my friend's over the weekend, and dove into the diaper cake centerpiece/gift for my friend. It warms my heart to think that she was my first friend in college, and just yesterday I felt her baby kick in her tummy. Amazing. I also really really enjoyed making this "cake" and would love to do more!
